DNV is a competent and trustworthy parther assisting the LNG industry in managing risks throughout the entire LNG value chain.

Although the Government of the Republic of Lithuania has taken a decision on the necessity for construction of a liquid gas terminal at the seaport of Klaipeda, this issue has not been widely discussed yet and such kind of forum was essential to organize. The forum was attended by Lithuanian and foreign scientists, business representatives and DNV (Det Norske Veritas), having considerable experience of assessment of construction of analogous terminals, technological solutions, and their impact on the environment and economic benefits.

At the forum, DNV (Det Norske Veritas) specialists and foreign experts have shared their experience of the world practice of building such terminals, giving an overview of some particular projects, such as liquid natural gas terminals in Norway and Poland. The scientists of Klaipėda have discussed the potential difficulties of construction of a terminal in Klaipėda, favorable conditions for shipping and the impact on the country’s environment and economy.

‘Participation of maritime businesses in the construction of the liquid natural gas terminal and its operation will considerably improve Klaipėda’s economy and set a precedent for operation of Lithuanian companies and specialists in this area. Our companies have not taken part in construction or logistics of objects of a similar scale so far. Therefore the experience gained will enable us to look for new markets and compete with foreign companies in the future having trained qualified specialists,- Roma Stubrienė, director of Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, pointed out.
